Slowspin Live

SLOWSPIN celebrates the release of her new album Afterimage with an intimate dream-folk set that traces what remains after departure: the sensation of a place, a person, a prayer, a song. For this special performance at Barzakh, sound artist and experimental musician SLOWSPIN (Zeerak Ahmed) weaves together matrilineal folk traditions, devotional singing, ambient textures, and experimental electronics. Rooted in oral histories and memories of migration from the Indian subcontinent, her immersive soundscapes in Urdu, Purbi, and English explore love, loss, and longing. SLOWSPIN was an artist-in-residence at Pioneer Works this summer. Her archival work and performances have been presented by the Akron Art Museum, Qatar Museums, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
